On your way down to the beach, pop down to the riverside picnic area, for a tranquil picnic, or just safe walking under the trees with the river and abundant birdlife competing for your attention.
Or just go fishing from the riverbank. Or your boat, launched from the slipway.
At the end of Gonubie Main Road, park your car, and decide where to go next.
From here you are close to the Gonubie golf course, and Bird Sanctuary.
A comfortable stroll along the Boardwalk, with fynbos covered dunes above you, and the sea breaking onto the rocks below you, takes you to Gonubie Beach, and the Gonubie River Mouth. Both of which offer year round safe swimming, and watersports.

Back at your car, travel along the Gonubie sea-front. There are many interesting places to stop and view the wild coastline, collect souveniers, have a coffee, a swim, just be a tourist. Its just a twenty minute drive to East London if you want to explore further.
